Causa Prima is SAP certified. No CSV was harmed.

The SAP Integration and Certification Center has certified Causa Prima's add-on for SAP (Clean Core for S/4HANA). Here is why we did it the hard way.
If you want to run inside a CFO’s ERP, you earn it. For those running on SAP, certification is the price of admission. Pulling CSVs out of SAP is for beginners. If your agent needs a file export to do its job, it’s not an agent, it’s an intern with a spreadsheet.
The CSV workaround
Every AI company selling into finance eventually meets SAP. Most of them find a way around it.
The workaround usually looks like this:
- The finance team exports a CSV of open invoices.
- Someone uploads it to the startup’s tool, the tool does something clever, and a second CSV comes back to be imported into SAP.
- Sometimes it’s a nightly file drop. Sometimes it’s an RPA bot clicking through screens.
- Either way, the “AI agent” is a spreadsheet with extra steps, and the finance team is the integration layer.
That is manual work with a new logo on it. And an ERP that has to trust files handed back and forth cannot trust the agent that produced them.
We think startups working with SAP should be certified, full stop.
SAP doesn’t demand it. CFOs and heads of IT do, because certification is the only credible answer to the question they ask first: does this thing act inside our controls, or around them?
What we certified
The SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) has certified Causa Prima’s add-on for SAP. The certification ran on SAP Certified Clean Core for SAP S/4HANA® ; the add-on itself is not tied to one release and runs across SAP landscapes.
The add-on connects to the Causa Prima app through APIs. It reads invoices, purchase orders, goods receipts and supplier master data directly from the ERP, at the moment SAP has them, and enriches them with context from adjacent systems such as email, the CRM and team chat. That is what speeds up approval and payment-terms flows, all under the SAP authorisations the add-on has been given. Every action lands back in SAP as a documented posting, visible to the same controls, auditors and reports finance already uses. SAP remains the system of record. The agent proposes; SAP posts.
No exports, no imports, no CSV anywhere in the chain. From the finance team’s side, an invoice arrives and a little later it is matched, approved and on agreed payment terms. Nobody handed a file to anyone.
Causa Prima is also an SAP PartnerEdge partner and will soon be listed on the SAP Store.
What certification unlocks
The certificate covers the integration. It says nothing about the harder problem.
Most AP exceptions are about the other company: a delivery note that never arrived, a price the supplier disputes, a payment-terms question that dies in an inbox. Software inside one ERP cannot fix that, however well integrated it is, because the missing information lives in the supplier’s system.
Causa Prima is an agent-to-agent network. The buyer’s agent works on live SAP data through the certified add-on, so it can go to the supplier’s agent for the missing fact, negotiate early payment against a discount or settle a dispute, and write the outcome straight back into SAP as a clean posting. The supplier’s agent runs wherever the supplier is: another SAP landscape, a mid-market ERP, an inbox.
| SAP’s role | Causa Prima’s role |
|---|---|
| Holds the company’s operational and financial records. | Uses relevant information to help resolve the work around an invoice. |
| Records orders, deliveries, invoices and payments. | Helps investigate missing information, resolve disputes and agree payment terms between companies. |
| Provides the company’s existing authorisations and posting controls. | Works through the access and controls granted to its integration. |
That used to be a phone call and a spreadsheet. Now it is a transaction. Nothing in your SAP landscape gets replaced. Existing payment and supply chain finance programmes keep running, and the agent takes the long tail those programmes were never designed to reach.
It helps that our CEO, Maex Ament, co-founded Taulia, now part of SAP, and has spent 25 years inside this workflow. We know what the SAP finance stack does well. We built the piece that sits between two of them.
If you run finance on SAP and want to see the certified add-on working on your own invoices, talk to us at causaprima.com.
Causa Prima is the first agent-to-agent AI network designed to stop the endless chase for money between companies. Unlike AI finance tools built to serve one side of a transaction, our network puts buyers and suppliers on the same system, so AI agents solve disputes and negotiate the terms and payments between each other in real time. Already serving over 3,000 active users, Causa Prima is built by the team behind Taulia, which processes over $1.2 trillion in annual invoice transaction volume across a global network of millions of suppliers.
